THE ROLE
As the Head of International, you will be responsible for driving our international growth efforts via the identification and management of partnerships outside of the UK. You will identify and onboard, or nurture, the right collaboration, be they agencies, distributors or franchise partners, all models alive and well in the Ancient + Brave ecosystem.
You will set and drive ambitious growth plans with a focus on new business development and scaling the relationships already established with excellent account management.
This role is about strategy definition and quick execution, owning the business case, negotiations, go-live and scale-up. You need to be able to quickly understand market nuance, USP’s, and drive growth at pace, ensuring strong, long-term relationships are built.
You’ll be commercial, nimble with data, able to forecast and drive sell-out, and an operator. This is a delivery role. Your decisions will directly impact the bottom line, so a relentless focus on results is essential.
Reporting to our Chief Retail Officer, you will be an integral part in the team, working collaboratively and cross-functionally at all levels and with all departments (Brand, Design, ECommerce, Partnerships, Nutrition and Innovation, etc) as well as external agencies and partners.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Drive global growth strategy for Ancient + Brave across International markets. Formulate long-term sales and expansion strategies, identifying and pursuing new business opportunities while scaling operations in new and existing markets.
+ Cultivate and manage high-level strategic partnerships across different 3rd party businesses, driving growth and sell-through, and passing on best practices to ensure the brand is showing up consistently in the market and commercialising the category.
+ Create partner support material, including POS guidelines, marketing frameworks and collaborate with nutrition to deliver training to maintain standards.
+ Regularly review changing market dynamics and emerging markets to identify pipeline expansion opportunities. Stay connected with market data, international agencies and market visits to better understand and unlock potential.
+ Negotiate complex commercial agreements with partners, ensuring favourable terms, strategic positioning, and long-term alignment with business objectives, maintaining an eye on margin and ensuring a win-win. Champion our commercial interests while maintaining productive relationships.
+ Proactively identifying and resolving challenges related to export operations, including compliance and regulation, where those are relevant, be it with the internal teams or external partners. Ensure smooth and efficient market entry with full compliance and operational readiness.
+ Monitor and report on financial performance, overseeing the preparation of regular updates on sales performance, financial tracking, and budgeting. Ensure that sales targets are met and forecast accuracy is maintained, with a focus on optimising profitability.
+ Lead, mentor, and expand a high-performing team, setting a clear vision for team growth and development. Collaborate with senior leadership to design an organisational structure that supports scalability and operational efficiency as the business grows.
+ Foster company-wide collaboration, working closely with Marketing, Innovation, Nutrition, Partnerships, and Events teams to ensure a unified approach to sales and market positioning. Align cross-functional strategies to maximise the impact of sales initiatives across all touchpoints
WHO YOU ARE
To be successful in this role, you will need the following skills/knowledge/experience:
+ Proven track record of successfully scaling brands in international markets, with a strong focus on identifying and capitalising on new business opportunities. Hungry for commercial growth and motivated by exceeding ambitious targets.
+ A background in consumer brands, ideally in health and wellness, but open, with established contacts and proven routes to market.
+ An absolute comfort with business case creation and opportunity P&L, able to work through sales and profit numbers across a 1 - 3 year period.
+ High level of expertise in account management and sales pipeline management, with a focus on best practices.
+ A strategic mindset, with the ability to craft growth plans, set clear forecasts, and deliver insightful performance analysis against budget.
+ A strong operator who is comfortable getting it done, working through challenges, and presenting solutions.
+ Highly confident and skilled in negotiations, with a track record of securing favourable terms.
+ Proven ability to build and nurture strong, long-term relationships with external partners and key stakeholders.

Our Interview Process and What You Can Expect:
+ Application Review: We’ll start by reviewing your CV/application to ensure it’s a good fit for the role.
+ Initial Phone Call (circa 15-20 minutes): You’ll have a brief introductory chat with the People Team. We’ll discuss your experience, your career aspirations and explore how your values align with ours.
+ Video Interview (circa 30 minutes): The next step is a virtual interview with the hiring manager, via Google Meet. This will be an introductory conversation featuring experience-based and competency-based questions. It’s also a great time to ask any initial questions you have!
+ Interview Task: You’ll receive a task via email which you can prepare at home. This will form part of the discussion for the in-person interview. This will allow us to get a better understanding of your experience, skills and ways of working.
+ In-Person Interview (60-90 minutes): The final stage is an in-person interview at our Lewes office. You’ll meet with the hiring manager and one other team member and present your interview task and answer competency questions. This is also your opportunity to ask us any remaining questions.
